Wax Carving Ring
Explore the art of metalwork jewellery making in our hands-on workshop. Create your own unique ring, brooch, necklace pendant, or wax-carved ring using traditional metalworking techniques. Whether you're crafting a heartfelt gift for yourself or a loved one, this workshop offers a perfect blend of creativity and skill-building. Learn essential techniques such as cutting, folding, welding, surface texturing, and wax carving while unleashing your imagination to design one-of-a-kind pieces.
Price:
£156 per person for 1 hour (for finished rings where the silver weight exceeds 5 grams, we will charge an additional £3 per gram)
Minimum Age Requirement – For safety reasons, all guests must be at least 12 years old. Guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Unfortunately, our workshops are not suitable for pregnant individuals due to potential safety risks.
Guided Instruction: Our skilled instructors will guide you step by step through the process of wax carving, from shaping your design to preparing it for casting. Learn essential techniques such as precision carving, sculpting, and texturing while receiving personalized demonstrations and hands-on assistance to bring your unique ring to life.
Materials & Techniques: During the workshop, you’ll have access to a variety of jeweller’s waxes and carving tools to explore different techniques:
Green Hard Wax – Precision Carving
Ideal for structured and detailed designs, this wax allows you to carve sharp edges and clean lines for a refined look.
Blue Ring Tube Wax – Flow & Form
Perfect for organic and flowing designs, this wax can be manipulated directly on the ring bar to create natural, fluid shapes.
Red Soft Wax – Texture & Expression
For those who love texture and freeform designs, this wax is easy to mold by hand, allowing for unique surface patterns and sculptural effects.
Basic wax materials and tools are provided for use during the workshop. If you’d like to incorporate a gemstone into your design, you’re welcome to bring your own.
Equipment and Tools: Our studio is fully equipped with professional-grade wax carving tools, including ring tubes, carving knives, heated wax pens, and more. All necessary tools and materials are provided to ensure a smooth and enjoyable crafting experience.
Finishing Touches: Once your wax model is complete, we’ll handle the silver casting, polishing, and refining to bring out its final beauty. Your finished piece will be ready for pickup or delivery within about 25 to 40 days.
